Use the therapy on your athlete that NASA uses on theirs!

Picture

Horses have been domesticated for thousands of years. What started out as necessity, using horses for work and transportation, has evolved into sport and pleasure.  We have moved horses from their natural environment of grazing in the fields, running only from predators and having the emotional comfort of their herd. Now they live in small paddocks, sleep in stalls with concrete floors, rubber mats and wood shavings, eat the meals that we feed them and socialize very little.  Taking care of a large animal is a multifaceted undertaking. Not only do you need to think about the quantity and quality of their food, safety of their environment but also the conditioning of their body, mind and nervous system. Pleasure horses are often considered another member of the family and sport horses are depended on as a teammate....and like any teammate we need to keep them strong, motivated & recovering quickly!

For athletes, recovery is number 1.  The faster we recover the better we train and the better we perform. Horses are athletes just like us and depend on us for their recovery time.  PEMF can be easily administered pre and post training and before and after competition.  Our horse’s 800 trillion cells intelligently communicate with each other faster than the speed of light.  With healthy cells and healthy blood the body has what it needs to heal itself as nature intended.

Horses are intelligent and sensitive creatures, they are a flight animal and run on instinct. Sleep is just as important for horses as it is for humans.  Many people think that a horse can sleep standing up.  This is a half truth, a horse can nap standing up but needs to have a few good hours of quality deep sleep laying down to function properly.  Being a flight animal a horse will only lay down if it is calm and feels safe and secure in its environment.  Using low frequency PEMF like the iMRS Fauna from Swiss Bionic calms their nervous system, helping them to relax in the man made environment that they live in. A relaxed horse is safer to be around, sleeps better and eats better, increasing its ability to absorb the minerals and nutrients that it’s being fed.

How is PEMF Beneficial for Sport Horses?

PEMF is used to treat a wide range of conditions affecting any horse, but is especially beneficial for equine athletes.  You will find that treatment protocols vary based on factors such as:

  • Age of Horse
  • Fitness/Health Level including other conditions, medications, stress level and more
  • Age of Injury
  • Daily Routine
  • External factors including travel, competition, and stressors

PEMF can be used either as a preventative to injury or to treat specific equine conditions.  Listed below is just a sampling of the symptoms and conditions that can be helped with PEMF Therapy:

  • Shortened Forelimb Stride
  • Lameness
  • Abnormal head carriage
  • Muscle atrophy and stiffness
  • Bucked Shins
  • Ligament injuries
  • Bowed tendons
  • Fresh and delayed union bone fractures
  • Fetlock and pastern injuries
  • Sesamoid

The Treatment Process

PEMF treatments for horses are easy, simple and stress-free. Our world class PEMF system is the iMRS Fauna by Swiss Bionic Solutions which provides a practical, gentle and stress free application.  Our newly developed area applicators do not have to get in contact with the animal anymore. PEMF applicators can be hung within a box stall, standing stall, hallway or a simple suspension mechanism creating an energy “box”. The horse will be positioned in the “box” and is automatically and non-intrusively exposed to the applied pulsed electromagnetic field.

The additional 2 leg applicators enable a more specific and local application for the lower extremities of the animal. The adjustable suspension mechanism and the choice of very durable yet light material ensure a fast, easy and highly effective use. These tendon boots can be adjusted higher or lower on the horse’s legs to address treatment as required in specific locations.

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure…” Benjamin Franklin
...or in the horse world a pound of gold!!

Providing our sport and leisure horses PEMF Therapy is prevention on so many levels:  It helps in preventing soft tissue injuries that can take months out of training schedules: Digestive issues such as ulcers which cause not only pain but can lead to life threatening colic:  Degenerative joint disease that can lead to a lifetime of pain and/or injections or an early end to a horse’s career.  The benefit list is long when it comes to the preventative abilities of low frequency PEMF in horses.  Having access to a non-invasive device like the iMRS Fauna is a game changer for our very large best friends and fellow athletes!

There is an opportunity to provide an elevated level of therapy when combining bodywork sessions with PEMF. Since PEMF is a passive, it is very well received by all patients and can be an additional modality to aid achieving therapeutic goals faster, and ultimately resolve underlying issues. It's a great way to introduce medical technology and modernize the healing practice. In this modern day and age, with all of the affronts we have on our health from the environment, all our cells need a little something extra to cope. Bring on the 21st century of wellness! PEMF is a relatively new technology and studies are being done all the time to highlight PEMF stimulation's efficacy for circulatory improvement, pain management, neural health, and depression symptoms, scar and tissue healing. So many benefits to this amazing way to optimize cellular health. Healthy cells = no symptoms = optimal health!

Many PEMF recipients report benefits including a better night's sleep, a feeling of being recharged, improved digestion and reduced pain and that is precisely in line with the desired effects of any healing modality. By introducing a mild electrical magnetic current to the cells, the release of pain and inflammatory mediators are slowed or even stopped, increases blood flow of the cells, and re-establishes normal cell interaction. With reduced inflammation, pain decreases, energy increases, and faster tissue healing occurs. The microcirculation in the peripheral vessels increases, aiding all types of bodywork additionally being performed.

Massage and myofascial therapy is well known for resolving muscular issues. During a massage session, the PEMF therapy helps to increase the effects of the practitioner's treatment. Myofascial releases will be integrated in a more holistic way, due to the cellular membrane stimulation that PEMF provides. Fresh nutrients can more easily flow to problem areas, and general wellness is achieved at a faster rate. The stimulation provides a fantastic compliment to most any additional therapeutic modality. Patients may feel some tingling sensations in their hands and feet and the overall effect is relaxing.

Reflexology is a system of massage used to relieve tension and treat illness, based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and head linked to every part of the body. PEMF helps patients to connect to their bodies at a deeper level, helping integrate the reflex points even better than manual stimulation alone. Patients feel more relief at the end of the session, and their cells are further along the path to becoming healthy. The passive cellular stimulation helps to bring fresh nutrients and blood flow to the injured or sub optimally functioning area. The cellular stimulation also helps to move and process any lactic acid buildup in the muscles, aiding muscle recovery and relieving pain. Working with elderly patients or those who are concerned with their bone density, independent studies have shown that PEMF helps to stimulate bone density and promote bone and cartilage regeneration. NASA uses PEMF therapy to prevent bone and muscle loss in astronauts working at zero gravity. Needless to say that even us non-astronauts need some help maintaining muscle and bone health in our everyday routines.

Since the desired effects of the PEMF therapy take from 8-24 minutes, the practitioner can safely fit in a whole PEMF session in one treatment. Healing is accelerated through optimizing cellular membrane functioning. An awesome thing about combining PEMF with treatments, is that the bodywork practitioner has the added bonus of working in an electromagnetic field, since the range of the Omnium1 full body mat is 3 feet high. The practitioner also receives a cellular recharge, a true win-win for all.

If you are an RMT or any practitioner of bodywork, reflexology or breathwork, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is a great addition to any practice that requires the client or patient to be laying on a flat surface, or a massage table. It is a great addition to healing modalities of all kinds, providing a bonus source of cellular wellness and integration when used in tandem with healing work. The mat can even be tucked under the cushions of a couch, suitable for in office use in therapy as well, even in the waiting room! Acupuncture, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Reflexology, even cosmetic procedures such as microblading and filler injections are all very well suited for combined PEMF therapy. If you already own a PEMF device, ask your practitioner if you can bring your mat to your next session!

Are you a practitioner yourself? Why not rent a PEMF system for a trial period? Introduce the Omnium1 2.0 or the iMRS Prime to your clients? Enhance your practice and add another aspect of value to your business. Your clients will love it! And so will you!

Hack Mindfulness Practices with PEMF

Do you ever notice how when your physical health is good, your mental health tends to be better? That is no surprise.

Mental health cannot be separated from physical health. It is not mind over matter! That old paradigm of toughing it out rarely works out well in the long run. Keeping a stiff upper lip will certainly lead to having stiff joints eventually. When the mind tries to overpower the body, for a short while it may lead to fruitful results, like powering through the last kilometer in a 10k race. But in the long run, disconnecting the mind and the body leads to poorer health both physically and mentally. So how does the body influence the mind? A good example to begin with is if there are any inflammatory factors in the bloodstream, the brain gets them too. If there are any injuries of the body, the brain is working extra hard to heal the affected area and manage the symptoms. Harmful EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies like wifi and cell/tv towers and discs) affect not just the body but the mind as well. This can cause symptoms like cloudy thinking and unclear communication, a lacking sense of self, or even depression. Being hypersensitive is also a sign of cellular overload. For us to be in optimal health mentally, we need to take care of our cellular health physically. The Omnium1 system provides a fantastic tool to take care of our physical and mental health in a single session!

The brain is not only connected to the body, but also a literal part of the body. There is still so much yet to be discovered about the functions and mechanisms of the brain, it remains somewhat of a mystery to most of us. Our brain waves behave differently at different times of the day, and during sleep our brains do completely different actions than they do in the morning. The OmniBrain and Omnium1 PEMF mat is designed almost like a mindfulness hack. If you have trouble meditating, a great workaround for that is a session with the light therapy goggles. The lights flash at specific intervals that move your brain into more optimal wavelengths for a calmer mind and more aligned thinking. Meditation, prayer, and silent contemplation also share the same common goal - to rewire the brain to a more equanimous, or less excitable and calmer state. There are many different mindfulness techniques which can all be combined with PEMF sessions to make them more effective. Since PEMF helps optimize cellular functioning by stimulating the cellular membranes, calmer mind states are achieved with less effort since the brain and body are both being stimulated. The mind-body connection is so important to notice. To feel each breath as it passes through your nostrils, to describe the temperature of the breeze on your skin, both examples of mindful exercises that use the body as a point of reference.

Do you struggle to keep your “monkey mind” at bay? Do you ever feel like you need a little break from life? To slow your thoughts down. The OmniBrain system is a perfect tool help you steer clear of reactive states of being and regain control of your thoughts while improving your cellular functioning. It's like a meditation and cellular reboot at the same time. And it is portable! Take a quick 15-minute break to reset your brain during the day and see how the quality of your thoughts improve! You can use it with or without the PEMF mat, for a reboot to your system. Using mindfulness techniques is a highly effective tool to flex the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) and get out of a hyperarousal state. Mindfulness can also help with bringing hyperarousal (shut down & apathetic) states back into balance. PEMF helps calm the nervous system when used at a low intensity setting.

Why is it important to take care of our mind and thoughts? The brain controls every single action of your autonomic and sympathetic nervous system. Think digestion, breathing, cellular regeneration for autonomic and fight flight or freeze for sympathetic. Our thoughts have an incredible power to change our nervous system response. Positive and loving, kind, compassionate thoughts improve our cells, and the opposite rule applies to harbouring negative, judgmental and thoughts.

The 70 trillion cells in your possession all respond to the thoughts and electrical impulses generated in your brain and nervous tissue to fuel them into action. We truly are biological machines. We need to treat our bodies well for our brains to work optimally, fueling our best lives. When our bodies are happy, so are our brains!
Both the Omnium1 2.0 and the iMRS Prime possess the features to support mindfulness and are something worth a try! If you are not quite sure just yet you could always rent a PEMF system and try it in the comfort of your home! Try PEMF through pemfglobalrentals.com and feel the difference.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy & Lyme Disease

Picture

Lyme disease, is an infectious disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium which is spread by ticks. The most common sign of infection is an enlarged red rash, that appears at the site of the tick bite about a week after it occurred. The rash is typically neither itchy nor painful. Approximately 70–80% of infected people develop a rash. Other early symptoms may include fever, headache, and fatigue. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.

Ticks can attach to any part of the human body but are often found in hard-to-see areas such as the groin, armpits, and scalp. In most cases, the tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours or more before the Lyme disease bacterium can be transmitted.

Most humans are infected through the bites of immature ticks called nymphs. Nymphs are tiny (less than 2 mm) and difficult to see; they feed during the spring and summer months. Adult ticks can also transmit Lyme disease bacteria, but they are much larger and are more likely to be discovered and removed before they have had time to transmit the bacteria. Adult Ixodes ticks are most active during the cooler months of the year.

Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks.

The CDC (Canadian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention) currently recommends a two-step testing process for Lyme disease. Both steps are required and can be done using the same blood sample. If this first step is negative, no further testing is recommended. If the first step is positive or indeterminate (sometimes called “equivocal”), the second step should be performed. The overall result is positive only when the first test is positive (or equivocal) and the second test is positive (or for some tests equivocal).

It is worth noting that most Lyme disease tests are designed to detect antibodies made by the body in response to infection. Antibodies can take several weeks to develop, so patients may test negative if recently infected.

Most cases of Lyme disease can be cured with a 2-to-4-week course of oral antibiotics. However, in untreated people, the infection often disseminates to the nervous system, heart, or joints, possibly causing permanent damage to body tissues.

Some patients can have nonspecific, subjective symptoms such as fatigue, joint and muscle aches, or cognitive difficulties for more than six months after recommended treatment for Lyme disease. This condition is called Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS).

It is unknown why some patients experience PTLDS. Some experts believe that Borrelia burgdorferi can trigger an “auto-immune” response causing symptoms that last well after the infection itself is gone. Other experts hypothesize that PTLDS results from a persistent but difficult to detect infection. Finally, some believe that the symptoms of PTLDS are due to other causes unrelated to the patient’s Borrelia burgdorferi infection. Patients with PTLDS usually get better over time, but it can take many months to feel completely well again.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF Therapy)

As symptoms of Lyme Disease can include fatigue, headaches, joint and muscle pain, and cognitive difficulties, PEMF therapy may be used as a natural, non evasive approach to help combat these symptoms.

PEMF Therapy supports optimal cell function. When cells are exposed to PEMF it allows for the increased intake of minerals, nutrients, and oxygen which supports the production of ATP (the body’s energy supply), increased ion transfer, cellular voltage, and circulation. PEMF also facilitates the removal of toxins, CO2, and Water, maximizing cellular performance.

As the production of ATP is increased, the body’s energy supply increases, helping to battle the fatigue often experienced by Lyme sufferers.

The secret of PEMF lies in the improvement of microcirculation, the circulation of blood in the smallest blood vessels of the body. Research has found that PEMF therapy is an effective tool to combat and reduce joint and muscle pain by reducing inflammation.

The Omnium1 PEMF therapy mat delivers a specialized therapeutic waveform to target these very small blood vessels promoting improved blood flow and increased oxygen and nutrient supply to tissues and organs.

This improved microcirculation and overall optimization of cellular function increases the human body’s ability to heal and repair chronic illness and injury.

With very few treatment options for Lyme Disease, PEMF therapy could be a good avenue to explore. Renting a PEMF system to see how it works for you could be the best next step. Many clients with Lyme have had amazing results from using their Omnium1 2.0 or iMRS Prime PEMF systems. They report more energy, better sleep, a reduction in pain and inflammation, and more.
