Vertigo and tinnitus are difficult to treat conventionally, as many of those who experience the symptoms have encountered. Tinnitus can happen for many reasons and is very problematic for sensory overload and the occasionally accompanying migraines. The first step is to evaluate your overall health and treat any underlying problems. Evaluate your diet, your exercise routine, and sleep pattern. Regular PEMF treatments are greatly beneficial for increasing the quality of your day-to-day wellness regimens. After all, health is the real wealth. Chronic sensory issues are taxing on the individuals experiencing them and can affect mental health as well if they are not addressed.
Vertigo is a sensation of feeling off balance. If you have these dizzy spells, you might feel like you are spinning or that the world around you is spinning. There are two main causes, and both can be addressed with PEMF use by optimizing cellular membranes to exchange ions and help promote the body's ability to regenerate and heal the affected tissues. The two main types are:
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. BPPV occurs when tiny calcium particles called canaliths are dislodged from their normal location in the outer ear and collect in the inner ear. The inner ear sends signals to the brain about head and body movements relative to gravity. It helps you keep your balance. BPPV can occur for no known reason and may be associated with age.
Meniere's disease is an inner ear disorder thought to be caused by a buildup of fluid and changing pressure in the ear. It can cause episodes of vertigo along with ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and hearing loss.
In a study about tinnitus and PEMF and tinnitus, the method of neuroimaging proved increased activity in the central auditory cortex. It turned out that low frequencies of pulsed magnetic therapy (1 Hz or less) cause a reduction in irritation of the cortex, while higher frequencies (5-20 Hz) increase it. Both cases promote a healing benefit to the body and enable the healing process to initiate. Both frequencies are available in the Omnium1 and the IMRS Prime devices available to rent for an intensive case, as it provides gentle and passive relief of symptoms.
Tinnitus is both high and low pitched, other methods of relief are noise-canceling headphones, cognitive behavioral therapy, background music and lifestyle changes. Including PEMF in the wellness protocol can benefit overall health and increased cellular health leads to less symptoms. Other conditions can also cause tinnitus such as an ear infection, neurological problems or damage, heart disease, thyroid issues, traumatic brain injuries as well. These complex and hard to treat conditions can also be alleviated with regular PEMF use.
The OmniBrain system is also an excellent choice when treating chronic conditions like vertigo and tinnitus. The Omnibrain is advanced Light and Sound relaxation with the ability to create any colors for advanced color therapy applications in addition to the standard light and sound relaxation benefits.
Chronic conditions are easier to treat with the help of many healthy habits and including a PEMF mat treatment will certainly increase the overall health and wellness of every cell in the body. Healthy cells are symptom free cells!

Participating in sports is a fantastic way to stay in shape, reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and live a healthy lifestyle. It is also a great way to meet new people and expand your social or business network. Whether you prefer individual or team sports, staying active is good for you physically and mentally, while helping delay the aging process.
Many athletes have had the misfortune of experiencing injuries at some point in time. Whether you are a highly competitive athlete or a casual weekend warrior, injuries can set you back from enjoying the sports you love. Treating those injuries promptly and accurately can make a world of difference in the length and success of your recovery. Seeking professional medical advice and receiving proper treatment is always a wise decision to determine the best course of action.
PEMF Reduces Recovery Time From Sports Injury
Studies have proven that PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy regenerates nerves and tissues, strengthens bones, relieves pain, reduces inflammation, boosts ATP production, improves circulation and oxygenation, accelerates detoxification, and promotes deeper, more restorative sleep. All of these benefits help speed up recovery time from injuries.
Many professional athletes use PEMF on a regular basis and find they recover more quickly from injuries. Faster recovery and pain reduction can lead to the goal of peak performance. Professional athletes are under incredible pressure to perform and compete even while injured. PEMF devices have been proven to reduce recovery time from intense workouts and from injuries. They are legal for all competitive athletes to use because they do not fall into the category of doping. When using PEMF systems, no foreign substance is entering the body. Instead, exposure to a pulsed electromagnetic field allows the body to become stronger because the charge of every cell is being optimized, oxygen saturation increases, elimination of toxins improves, and the athlete experiences less pain. There are no side effects with PEMF as there are when taking medication.
A wide variety of injuries can be treated effectively by PEMF therapy such as bone fractures, back pain, joint pain, injuries to ligaments, tendons, and muscles. In addition, PEMF is used post operatively to reduce pain. Studies reveal that PEMF reduces recovery time significantly, often by half the time. PEMF is non-invasive and can be used in conjunction with traditional therapies, which offers benefits to injured athletes that can reduce the recovery time by speeding up the healing process.
PEMF Is Ideal For Use On A Daily Basis
Daily use of PEMF is ideal for enhancing performance of all sports and can reduce the chance of injury when your body experiences optimal balance. PEMF therapy stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Regular athletic training depletes the ATP, Adenosine triphosphate, which is responsible for almost all cellular processes, including muscle contraction and nerve impulses. When ATP is depleted, it weakens muscles. Because PEMF restores ATP quickly, recovery time is reduced which allows athletes to train harder resulting in improved athletic performance.
Athletes' performance is also enhanced by increased oxygenation by improved blood circulation, increased energy, improved muscle and joint conditions, improved balance, faster reaction time, ability to focus and concentrate. When the body is working optimally, there is a reduced risk of injury. Time spent in a doctor’s office is reduced and money is saved when less physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathic and acupuncture treatments are required.
When injuries do occur, PEMF can be used to reduce recovery time significantly by accelerating the repair of joints, cartilage, bones, and muscles. Consider renting an Omnium1 2.0 or iMRS Prime through PEMF Global Rentals to experience the convenience of having a PEMF device in your home prior to purchasing a system of your own. PEMF devices by Swiss Bionic Solutions are affordable, low intensity systems that are safe for home use that can enhance athletic performance and help to reduce recovery time of sports injuries.
Do you suffer from cold hands and feet, numbness or tingling in your extremities, varicose veins, muscle cramping or swelling in your lower extremities? You could be experiencing poor circulation.
The circulatory system, or cardiovascular system, consists of the heart, veins, arteries and capillaries. It delivers oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to every cell in the body, including all of the organs and tissues, and removes carbon dioxide and waste products. The heart pumps blood through blood vessels everywhere in your body. The blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood from the heart are the arteries. The deoxygenated blood is carried back to the heart by the veins. The capillaries are tiny blood vessels that allow for the exchange of oxygen, nutrients and waste between the cardiovascular system and your organs and tissues. The body sends electrical signals to the heart so it knows it needs to pump harder during exercise and signals to slow down when asleep.
When the circulatory system is not functioning optimally, a number of possible symptoms can occur:
It is important to have regular checkups with your doctor if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
There are a number of ways to keep your circulatory system healthy:
These are images of live blood analysis using dark field microscopy to observe live red blood cells. On the left, the blood cells are clumping together preventing proper oxygen delivery. The image on the right shows the red blood cells after using PEMF. The blood cells are circulating proper and carry a high oxygen level.
How PEMF Improves Circulation
One of the most important benefits of PEMF is improved circulation. Regular use of PEMF increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, prevents clumping of red blood cells and provides energy to the cells, and capillaries are dilated which improves microcirculation. PEMF therapy stimulates blood vessels which pump blood and carry oxygen into the cells. In addition, PEMF stimulates the lymphatic vessels allowing toxins and waste to be more efficiently removed from the cells. Lymphatic drainage and blood flow are stimulated, improving the immune system. PEMF allows the cells to become more permeable. By increasing ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate production), our cells absorb more oxygen and nutrients through the vascular and lymphatic systems.
Results of PEMF Therapy
Prior to using PEMF and purchasing an Omnium1 device, one of our clients was diagnosed with venous insufficiency syndrome. Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when the valves in your veins of the legs stop working properly and they are not permitting the blood to flow up to your heart. Instead, blood flows backwards causing blood to pool in the veins which can cause discoloration in the legs. Our client looked like he had severe bruising in his legs from the knees down, despite exercising 5 - 6 days a week. Unfortunately, his doctor was only monitoring him and did not offer any treatment. After using the Omnium1 full body mat and OmniSpot every day for one month, there was a visible improvement in the discoloration of his legs. After 6 months of daily PEMF use, there is virtually no discoloration in our client’s legs!
Experience the Benefits of PEMF for Yourself
In order to achieve optimal cardiovascular health, consider renting locally an Omnium1 or iMRS Prime from PEMF Global Rentals prior to purchase. Daily use of PEMF can make a significant difference in your circulation and help you achieve increased energy, vitality and experience anti-aging on a cellular level.

Horses have been domesticated for thousands of years. What started out as necessity, using horses for work and transportation, has evolved into sport and pleasure. We have moved horses from their natural environment of grazing in the fields, running only from predators and having the emotional comfort of their herd. Now they live in small paddocks, sleep in stalls with concrete floors, rubber mats and wood shavings, eat the meals that we feed them and socialize very little. Taking care of a large animal is a multifaceted undertaking. Not only do you need to think about the quantity and quality of their food, safety of their environment but also the conditioning of their body, mind and nervous system. Pleasure horses are often considered another member of the family and sport horses are depended on as a teammate....and like any teammate we need to keep them strong, motivated & recovering quickly!
For athletes, recovery is number 1. The faster we recover the better we train and the better we perform. Horses are athletes just like us and depend on us for their recovery time. PEMF can be easily administered pre and post training and before and after competition. Our horse’s 800 trillion cells intelligently communicate with each other faster than the speed of light. With healthy cells and healthy blood the body has what it needs to heal itself as nature intended.
Horses are intelligent and sensitive creatures, they are a flight animal and run on instinct. Sleep is just as important for horses as it is for humans. Many people think that a horse can sleep standing up. This is a half truth, a horse can nap standing up but needs to have a few good hours of quality deep sleep laying down to function properly. Being a flight animal a horse will only lay down if it is calm and feels safe and secure in its environment. Using low frequency PEMF like the iMRS Fauna from Swiss Bionic calms their nervous system, helping them to relax in the man made environment that they live in. A relaxed horse is safer to be around, sleeps better and eats better, increasing its ability to absorb the minerals and nutrients that it’s being fed.
How is PEMF Beneficial for Sport Horses?
PEMF is used to treat a wide range of conditions affecting any horse, but is especially beneficial for equine athletes. You will find that treatment protocols vary based on factors such as:
PEMF can be used either as a preventative to injury or to treat specific equine conditions. Listed below is just a sampling of the symptoms and conditions that can be helped with PEMF Therapy:
The Treatment Process
PEMF treatments for horses are easy, simple and stress-free. Our world class PEMF system is the iMRS Fauna by Swiss Bionic Solutions which provides a practical, gentle and stress free application. Our newly developed area applicators do not have to get in contact with the animal anymore. PEMF applicators can be hung within a box stall, standing stall, hallway or a simple suspension mechanism creating an energy “box”. The horse will be positioned in the “box” and is automatically and non-intrusively exposed to the applied pulsed electromagnetic field.
The additional 2 leg applicators enable a more specific and local application for the lower extremities of the animal. The adjustable suspension mechanism and the choice of very durable yet light material ensure a fast, easy and highly effective use. These tendon boots can be adjusted higher or lower on the horse’s legs to address treatment as required in specific locations.
There is an opportunity to provide an elevated level of therapy when combining bodywork sessions with PEMF. Since PEMF is a passive, it is very well received by all patients and can be an additional modality to aid achieving therapeutic goals faster, and ultimately resolve underlying issues. It's a great way to introduce medical technology and modernize the healing practice. In this modern day and age, with all of the affronts we have on our health from the environment, all our cells need a little something extra to cope. Bring on the 21st century of wellness! PEMF is a relatively new technology and studies are being done all the time to highlight PEMF stimulation's efficacy for circulatory improvement, pain management, neural health, and depression symptoms, scar and tissue healing. So many benefits to this amazing way to optimize cellular health. Healthy cells = no symptoms = optimal health!
Many PEMF recipients report benefits including a better night's sleep, a feeling of being recharged, improved digestion and reduced pain and that is precisely in line with the desired effects of any healing modality. By introducing a mild electrical magnetic current to the cells, the release of pain and inflammatory mediators are slowed or even stopped, increases blood flow of the cells, and re-establishes normal cell interaction. With reduced inflammation, pain decreases, energy increases, and faster tissue healing occurs. The microcirculation in the peripheral vessels increases, aiding all types of bodywork additionally being performed.
Massage and myofascial therapy is well known for resolving muscular issues. During a massage session, the PEMF therapy helps to increase the effects of the practitioner's treatment. Myofascial releases will be integrated in a more holistic way, due to the cellular membrane stimulation that PEMF provides. Fresh nutrients can more easily flow to problem areas, and general wellness is achieved at a faster rate. The stimulation provides a fantastic compliment to most any additional therapeutic modality. Patients may feel some tingling sensations in their hands and feet and the overall effect is relaxing.
Reflexology is a system of massage used to relieve tension and treat illness, based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and head linked to every part of the body. PEMF helps patients to connect to their bodies at a deeper level, helping integrate the reflex points even better than manual stimulation alone. Patients feel more relief at the end of the session, and their cells are further along the path to becoming healthy. The passive cellular stimulation helps to bring fresh nutrients and blood flow to the injured or sub optimally functioning area. The cellular stimulation also helps to move and process any lactic acid buildup in the muscles, aiding muscle recovery and relieving pain. Working with elderly patients or those who are concerned with their bone density, independent studies have shown that PEMF helps to stimulate bone density and promote bone and cartilage regeneration. NASA uses PEMF therapy to prevent bone and muscle loss in astronauts working at zero gravity. Needless to say that even us non-astronauts need some help maintaining muscle and bone health in our everyday routines.
Since the desired effects of the PEMF therapy take from 8-24 minutes, the practitioner can safely fit in a whole PEMF session in one treatment. Healing is accelerated through optimizing cellular membrane functioning. An awesome thing about combining PEMF with treatments, is that the bodywork practitioner has the added bonus of working in an electromagnetic field, since the range of the Omnium1 full body mat is 3 feet high. The practitioner also receives a cellular recharge, a true win-win for all.
If you are an RMT or any practitioner of bodywork, reflexology or breathwork, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is a great addition to any practice that requires the client or patient to be laying on a flat surface, or a massage table. It is a great addition to healing modalities of all kinds, providing a bonus source of cellular wellness and integration when used in tandem with healing work. The mat can even be tucked under the cushions of a couch, suitable for in office use in therapy as well, even in the waiting room! Acupuncture, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Reflexology, even cosmetic procedures such as microblading and filler injections are all very well suited for combined PEMF therapy. If you already own a PEMF device, ask your practitioner if you can bring your mat to your next session!
Are you a practitioner yourself? Why not rent a PEMF system for a trial period? Introduce the Omnium1 2.0 or the iMRS Prime to your clients? Enhance your practice and add another aspect of value to your business. Your clients will love it! And so will you!
Do you ever notice how when your physical health is good, your mental health tends to be better? That is no surprise.
Mental health cannot be separated from physical health. It is not mind over matter! That old paradigm of toughing it out rarely works out well in the long run. Keeping a stiff upper lip will certainly lead to having stiff joints eventually. When the mind tries to overpower the body, for a short while it may lead to fruitful results, like powering through the last kilometer in a 10k race. But in the long run, disconnecting the mind and the body leads to poorer health both physically and mentally. So how does the body influence the mind? A good example to begin with is if there are any inflammatory factors in the bloodstream, the brain gets them too. If there are any injuries of the body, the brain is working extra hard to heal the affected area and manage the symptoms. Harmful EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies like wifi and cell/tv towers and discs) affect not just the body but the mind as well. This can cause symptoms like cloudy thinking and unclear communication, a lacking sense of self, or even depression. Being hypersensitive is also a sign of cellular overload. For us to be in optimal health mentally, we need to take care of our cellular health physically. The Omnium1 system provides a fantastic tool to take care of our physical and mental health in a single session!
The brain is not only connected to the body, but also a literal part of the body. There is still so much yet to be discovered about the functions and mechanisms of the brain, it remains somewhat of a mystery to most of us. Our brain waves behave differently at different times of the day, and during sleep our brains do completely different actions than they do in the morning. The OmniBrain and Omnium1 PEMF mat is designed almost like a mindfulness hack. If you have trouble meditating, a great workaround for that is a session with the light therapy goggles. The lights flash at specific intervals that move your brain into more optimal wavelengths for a calmer mind and more aligned thinking. Meditation, prayer, and silent contemplation also share the same common goal - to rewire the brain to a more equanimous, or less excitable and calmer state. There are many different mindfulness techniques which can all be combined with PEMF sessions to make them more effective. Since PEMF helps optimize cellular functioning by stimulating the cellular membranes, calmer mind states are achieved with less effort since the brain and body are both being stimulated. The mind-body connection is so important to notice. To feel each breath as it passes through your nostrils, to describe the temperature of the breeze on your skin, both examples of mindful exercises that use the body as a point of reference.
Do you struggle to keep your “monkey mind” at bay? Do you ever feel like you need a little break from life? To slow your thoughts down. The OmniBrain system is a perfect tool help you steer clear of reactive states of being and regain control of your thoughts while improving your cellular functioning. It's like a meditation and cellular reboot at the same time. And it is portable! Take a quick 15-minute break to reset your brain during the day and see how the quality of your thoughts improve! You can use it with or without the PEMF mat, for a reboot to your system. Using mindfulness techniques is a highly effective tool to flex the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) and get out of a hyperarousal state. Mindfulness can also help with bringing hyperarousal (shut down & apathetic) states back into balance. PEMF helps calm the nervous system when used at a low intensity setting.
Why is it important to take care of our mind and thoughts? The brain controls every single action of your autonomic and sympathetic nervous system. Think digestion, breathing, cellular regeneration for autonomic and fight flight or freeze for sympathetic. Our thoughts have an incredible power to change our nervous system response. Positive and loving, kind, compassionate thoughts improve our cells, and the opposite rule applies to harbouring negative, judgmental and thoughts.
The 70 trillion cells in your possession all respond to the thoughts and electrical impulses generated in your brain and nervous tissue to fuel them into action. We truly are biological machines. We need to treat our bodies well for our brains to work optimally, fueling our best lives. When our bodies are happy, so are our brains!
Both the Omnium1 2.0 and the iMRS Prime possess the features to support mindfulness and are something worth a try! If you are not quite sure just yet you could always rent a PEMF system and try it in the comfort of your home! Try PEMF through pemfglobalrentals.com and feel the difference.
Lyme disease, is an infectious disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium which is spread by ticks. The most common sign of infection is an enlarged red rash, that appears at the site of the tick bite about a week after it occurred. The rash is typically neither itchy nor painful. Approximately 70–80% of infected people develop a rash. Other early symptoms may include fever, headache, and fatigue. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.
Ticks can attach to any part of the human body but are often found in hard-to-see areas such as the groin, armpits, and scalp. In most cases, the tick must be attached for 36 to 48 hours or more before the Lyme disease bacterium can be transmitted.
Most humans are infected through the bites of immature ticks called nymphs. Nymphs are tiny (less than 2 mm) and difficult to see; they feed during the spring and summer months. Adult ticks can also transmit Lyme disease bacteria, but they are much larger and are more likely to be discovered and removed before they have had time to transmit the bacteria. Adult Ixodes ticks are most active during the cooler months of the year.
Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks.
The CDC (Canadian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention) currently recommends a two-step testing process for Lyme disease. Both steps are required and can be done using the same blood sample. If this first step is negative, no further testing is recommended. If the first step is positive or indeterminate (sometimes called “equivocal”), the second step should be performed. The overall result is positive only when the first test is positive (or equivocal) and the second test is positive (or for some tests equivocal).
It is worth noting that most Lyme disease tests are designed to detect antibodies made by the body in response to infection. Antibodies can take several weeks to develop, so patients may test negative if recently infected.
Most cases of Lyme disease can be cured with a 2-to-4-week course of oral antibiotics. However, in untreated people, the infection often disseminates to the nervous system, heart, or joints, possibly causing permanent damage to body tissues.
Some patients can have nonspecific, subjective symptoms such as fatigue, joint and muscle aches, or cognitive difficulties for more than six months after recommended treatment for Lyme disease. This condition is called Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS).
It is unknown why some patients experience PTLDS. Some experts believe that Borrelia burgdorferi can trigger an “auto-immune” response causing symptoms that last well after the infection itself is gone. Other experts hypothesize that PTLDS results from a persistent but difficult to detect infection. Finally, some believe that the symptoms of PTLDS are due to other causes unrelated to the patient’s Borrelia burgdorferi infection. Patients with PTLDS usually get better over time, but it can take many months to feel completely well again.
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF Therapy)
As symptoms of Lyme Disease can include fatigue, headaches, joint and muscle pain, and cognitive difficulties, PEMF therapy may be used as a natural, non evasive approach to help combat these symptoms.
PEMF Therapy supports optimal cell function. When cells are exposed to PEMF it allows for the increased intake of minerals, nutrients, and oxygen which supports the production of ATP (the body’s energy supply), increased ion transfer, cellular voltage, and circulation. PEMF also facilitates the removal of toxins, CO2, and Water, maximizing cellular performance.
As the production of ATP is increased, the body’s energy supply increases, helping to battle the fatigue often experienced by Lyme sufferers.
The secret of PEMF lies in the improvement of microcirculation, the circulation of blood in the smallest blood vessels of the body. Research has found that PEMF therapy is an effective tool to combat and reduce joint and muscle pain by reducing inflammation.
The Omnium1 PEMF therapy mat delivers a specialized therapeutic waveform to target these very small blood vessels promoting improved blood flow and increased oxygen and nutrient supply to tissues and organs.
This improved microcirculation and overall optimization of cellular function increases the human body’s ability to heal and repair chronic illness and injury.
With very few treatment options for Lyme Disease, PEMF therapy could be a good avenue to explore. Renting a PEMF system to see how it works for you could be the best next step. Many clients with Lyme have had amazing results from using their Omnium1 2.0 or iMRS Prime PEMF systems. They report more energy, better sleep, a reduction in pain and inflammation, and more.
Depression is an all-too-common way we humans have been suffering recently. Being depressed is not the body's natural state. Everyone feels down sometimes, but when the low mood is chronic, lasting for weeks or months and we lose interest in the things that we formerly loved or felt passionate about, it is a major red flag and cause of concern. Depression needs to be taken very seriously because there's hope and promise to get out of it! It is totally ok to be depressed; it is important to call a spade a spade. Assessing the issue is the first step of getting the help we need.
Depression is a call to action. It means that we are not in our optimal zone of health, and that has serious effects on our lives. Relationships suffer, work performance suffers, self care suffers. Depression has a huge toll on our lives and on those around us. Our bodies respond physically to our mental state. When we are depressed, our immune system functionality lowers, and we are more prone to getting sick. Depression also wreaks havoc on our sleep cycles. Staying up too late getting too little sleep and sleeping too much can disrupt the normal functions of our organs and making it harder to do the things we need to in a day. It is a gargantuan task, climbing out of depression, and that is why we need more than one solution in our toolbox to lean on when we are dealing with depression ourselves or helping a loved one who is experiencing depression.
Good diet and exercise, self care and work productivity is all a part of maintaining good health. Getting enough time outdoors and re-connecting with nature is especially important. Your cells want to work well. Your body wants to be well. We all have an internal bias towards positive change, including every cell in your body. Your body works so hard for you every day, breathing, digesting, and clearing out your head takes on a literal meaning, going for a walk and getting some fresh air can make a huge difference in your day. A way to “cheat” and get exposed to the earth's electromagnetic fields without going outside is laying on a low intensity pulsed electromagnetic field system. Trying new things, noticing our internal sensations is important for changing our relationships to ourselves. Blossoming into the best version of ourselves isn't going to happen if we stay stuck mentally or physically.
There are many ways to ease depressive symptoms and address areas of our lives that are not working; our goal is to make life as depression free as possible. Sometimes that means changing some things in our lives that are no longer working for us. Letting go of habits that are no longer serving us is not easy, but long term, it'll make us happier. Understanding what the causes of depression can be complicated, but only you know yourself best and what needs to happen. Nobody can tell you how to live or what makes you happy. Listening to your internal voice and trusting your intuition is crucial to developing a positive self-image and shifting out of depression.
Maybe it's something as small as getting a new hobby, activity, self care tool or something as big as moving to a new city! Doing the self-reflection of what is working in your life is necessary for changing it. Look at taking stock of everything, from your daily habits - food, water consumption, work, exercise, relationship, and visioning where you would like to be in 5 year's time. Goal setting is an important part of leading a successful life. Becoming someone who you would admire is a good way to frame your mindset around changing your life. If you can dream it, you can achieve it! A little sunshine in your day makes a world of difference to a cloudy mood. Surround yourself with things and people that make you happy and keep you motivated. Make sure to include good nature in your life, even when you get out of depression!
A CLOSER LOOK
Approximately 30% of people with depression are resistant to antidepressant medication. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been found effective when combined with antidepressants. A study was done to evaluate the antidepressant effect when given in conjunction with low-intensity transcranial pulsed electromagnetic fields. The study was a sham-controlled double-blind study comparing 5 weeks of active T-PEMF, or sham T-PEMF. All participants had previously shown resistance to treatment with medication. Weekly assessments were done using both clinical ratings and patient ratings. The sham group saw no change after 4 weeks. Participants doing active T-PEMF showed significantly better outcomes, with the changes occurring within the first weeks of the study. The T-PEMF treatment was superior to sham treatment in participants and few side effects were observed. (study found in the Society of Biological Psychiatry 2010, Martiny)
Pain is our first feeling when we are born. It is really painful to take our first breath as we enter the world. Every single person on this planet has experienced pain, and it is not fun. For many people, pain is a constant part of life. We live in a brutal world, and injuries are something that happen to the best of us. Accidents happen in even our daily life, both in the workplace and at home - bumping our heads on the car, slamming our fingers in the door, stubbing our toes...that's life! Not to mention staying physically active, sports injuries are a part of the equation of pain as well. Chronic and acute pain from injuries both new and old, arthritis, various chronic digestive disorders, and other autoimmune conditions are an unfortunate reality for people of all ages. In the Buddhist rhetoric, pain and suffering is a part of life, something to be expected. That does not make enduring it any more pleasant or easy! Everyone experiences pain, but it does not have to be that way. Being pain free is possible, at least in your body.
Pain is a sign from your body that something is wrong. A lot of the time the pain we feel is a result from inflammation in an injured area, or an area in our body that is not functioning properly. Our nerves misfiring can also be a cause of pain. It is a complicated symptom to nail down an exact cause as it depends on the individual and what they do in their life. Muscular pain, postural pain from repetitive motion injuries, even pain from sleeping in a suboptimal position is quite common and affects us all at one time or another.
There are many schools of thought about pain management and pain rehabilitation. Rest is important, but it is not always the answer when there is pain involved. Motion is lotion! Getting your cells functioning and neurons firing properly is always the goal in any form of rehabilitation. A healthy body is naturally pain free. Reaching for over-the-counter medications taxes the liver, organs, and nutritional absorption capabilities in the body. It may work for a short while, but it has its cost. The pain comes back and then we tend to be at square one if we do not or cannot get rid of the cause of the pain. Rehabilitation practices like physio, chiropractic, and acupuncture, renting a PEMF system and proper rehabilitation exercises are a good way to prevent and deal with injuries.
The importance of regular meals and a healthy diet can't be overlooked either, it can especially speed up healing, and also prevent some forms of pain as well. Nature informs our bodies to heal, we all possess the innate ability to heal ourselves. Tapping into those healing functions is easier when we surround ourselves with the forces of nature, clean air, clean water, and plenty of time outdoors. Low intensity pulsed electromagnetic fields give our bodies a boost of optimal cellular function when time isn't on our side and is great for pain management when we don't have the time to do all the other things that help with pain rehabilitation.
Natural pain management tools are always a kinder and more sustainable option on the human body, but sometimes they do not work as quickly as we need or want them to. Healing is not linear, there will be ups and downs. Healing pain is not linear either, it will come back, sometimes get worse before it gets better. This is normal. Pain is the source of a lot of frustration. As if life is not frustrating enough! A positive mindset can do wonders for motivating us and for healing pain.
Luckily, there is lots we can do about the pain we feel. Getting our bodies to be able to move without pain takes some time and dedication, and consistency. It takes consistent effort, but the payoff is priceless. Living in pain is limiting. We all want to lead limitless and healthy lives, taking care of our bodies naturally is the cornerstone of feeling good inside our own skin. Restoring optimal cell functioning is the highway to health and to staying young, and there are so many options to try!
A CLOSER LOOK AND PRACTITIONER EXPERIENCE
Musculoskeletal disorders such as arthritis, tendinitis, sprains and strains, fractures, post-op pain, osteoporosis, wounds, neuralgias, neuropathies, hip disorders, muscle spasms, spinal stenosis, disc degeneration, spinal injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches/migraines, and tennis/golfer’s elbow are among the most common pain sources that PEMF’s have been used for.
In one study done on PEMF and back pain, the findings suggested that PEMFs should be applied on a consistent basis over an extended period to achieve the best results. In that study 95% of the participants found relief.
As a PEMF Practitioner, at least 60-70% of my clients are coming to see me for chronic pain conditions. Some see a small reduction in just one session, most see a reduction in three or more sessions, rarely does it take weeks of sessions to produce some change. All clients are different though and the results really depend on the length of time they’ve been experiencing the pain and how responsive their body is to PEMFs. Most clients when they experience a reduction of pain by 25-50%, don’t want to lose that momentum! My clients will often rent an Omnium1 for 1-2 weeks or simply purchase their own system for home use to continue their progress and maintain a more pain free life. Pain is the easiest condition to measure accurately as it is something a client can notice quite quickly as they live with it every day. Rating it on the scale of 1-10 is a great tool to use with my clients both in clinic, during rentals, and for my home users.
One client of mine who had spinal stenosis came to me at a 10/10 level of pain. He had already tried a variety of therapies both conventional and alternative with no success. In one session with the iMRS he rated his pain from a 10/10 to an 8/10. Over the next 8 sessions he was able to bring that rating down to a near zero. This client bought his own iMRS and now maintains an exceptionally low pain rating and a much better quality of life!
Sleep is the most important part of a successful tomorrow. We recover from the day, and our bodies have a change to regenerate and grow new cells. We wake up each day with 1500 new neurons, 100 billion immune cells from our bone marrow, and 250 billion red blood cells. It is incredible when you look at the numbers. That is a lot of work our bodies do! No wonder why we get so tired at the end of the day. Our bodies make miracles happen.
Being tired and feeling exhausted does not necessarily translate to a restful and restorative sleep, unfortunately. Many people suffer from poor sleep, and the causes and symptoms vary. From mental disturbances to too much late-night screen time or eating too late before bed, drinking too much caffeine, or eating too much sugar, the factors that contribute to a failure of a good night's rest never seem to end. No matter the reason, getting a good night's sleep can easily make the biggest difference in productivity, wellbeing, and health.
Sleep is especially important for not only our bodies, but our brains as well. Humans have evolved to sleep throughout the night, making sure that our brains rest and reset for the following day. There was a study that found that a common symptom of a shorter sleep is eating about 500 more calories the day after. Our hunger cycles are also intricately linked to our sleep cycles. During sleep, our organs can rest and regenerate from a hard day's work. Getting 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep is key to keeping our hormone levels in check, our hunger at an appropriate level, and our stress at bay.
The modern-day lifestyle is notorious for cutting into our sleep cycles. Too many things in our immediate home environment disrupt the peaceful rest we all need and deserve. Stress, screen time, working in different time zones, binge watching Netflix, increased background noise levels from living in cities all exacerbate our abilities to wind down after a full day. It is important to notice our habits on how we work, and rest to see what we can change. No change is too small when we are needing to get a good rest. Passing out on the couch rarely makes for a good night's rest. Making the bedroom a sleeping sanctuary is a good first step. Getting a weighted blanket and putting on some relaxing spa music to help us get to our REM cycles seems to work well for a lot of people, no matter what age we are.
The earth has a sleep and wake cycle, and to keep healthy we cannot separate ourselves from the natural cadence of the world we live in. Our everyday life is often in direct conflict with the natural rhythms of our planet. The natural electromagnetic frequencies of the earth help us to keep our cells in the optimal range of health, regulating our melatonin, the sleep hormone. Low frequency PEMF devices mimic the earth's electromagnetic field from the comfort of our homes, where we are less exposed to nature and the outdoors. The evolution of humans living indoors and not nomadically is a benefit for convenience, warmth, and comfort, but also a detriment at times to our cells, and hormones. PEMF rentals are an easy way of trying to get some of that natural electromagnetic field into our lives again and returning to a more natural circadian rhythm.
Having a wind down routine for the evening is important to incorporate into our own good sleep etiquette. Whatever works for you, be it mindful breathwork, slow and gently movement techniques like yin yoga, stretching or foam rolling, a session on a low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field device (the Omnuim1 has an amazing sleep setting for this specific purpose), or journaling or reading a hard-copy book; it is important to take your sleep as seriously as you take your time being awake. Keeping a sleep journal can be helpful to motivate your progress to a peaceful slumber, and many devices and apps are available for tracking your sleeping habits too.
Once you start getting good sleep, it is easy to notice how just one bad night can throw off the next day. Chronic sleeplessness is all too common, and our world will be a more peaceful place if we all got the rest we deserved. It's always up to you to keep yourself and your healthy habits your top priority. Sleep on it!
A CLOSER LOOK
Magnetic fields from an extremely low intensity and low frequency (0.5 mT/5 Gauss 4 Hz) were tested in a double-blind study. Effects on sleep were studied prior to treatment after 2 and then again after 6 weeks of treatment. The results found were that PEMF’s applied at this field and intensity were effective in reducing sleep disturbances in 83% of the exposed group. (Fischer)
In another 4-week double-blind, placebo-controlled study, PEMF was tested for insomnia. One hundred patients were randomly placed in either active treatment or placebo groups. These groups each had three categories: trouble falling asleep (sleep latency), interrupted sleep, or nightmares. The study assessed 6 areas: sleep latency, frequency of sleep interruptions, sleepiness upon rising, daytime sleepiness, difficulty with concentration, and daytime headaches. In the active-treatment group, the values of all 3 categories had significantly improved results, no one had any adverse effects. 70% of the people given active treatment experienced substantial relief, 24% had clear relief, and 6% had slight relief. In the placebo group, only one patient had clear relief, 49% had some improvement, and 49% saw no change. Overall, the PEMF therapy helped about 90% of the individuals, versus only about 50% of the placebo group. This study was useful in showing that most basic types of sleep problems can be substantially helped with the use of PEMF therapies. (Pelka)
